Calixica Holistic Spa Boutique on Granville Island

by Cadi on November 22, 2011

Nestled in the heart of Granville Island, amongst the industrial you will find a hidden oasis.  A place of relaxation, renewal and results.  I had the pleasure of being invited in to Calixica to indulge in their latest experience of the Beyond Roses and Chocolates feature package.

I was warmly greeted upon my arrival by Flo, my spa practitioner.   I settled in with a warm cup of rose infused herbal tea.  We began with a Calixica welcoming ritual of warm hand towels and a pure wild rose inhalation.  I was invited to just relax and take it all in.

Calixica uses Isun Organic Skin Care and Benedetta in combination.  These are some of the purest products that I have discovered.  The products use pure organic, wild crafted and naturally sustainable plant life.  This ensures that the product and results are delivered in the purest form and that the essential oils are used within their highest vibrational properties.

I was escorted to my treatment room where I immediately felt warm and relaxed.  My Beyond Bliss experience began with a short intake to set the intention for my treatment.  I was invited to change and slip onto the table and await bliss.

Pure indulgence began with a warm oil body massage using four different gemstone infused Isun Organic Chakra oils. Isun developed these oils to be used for massage according to ancient Indian philosophy of Chakra balancing and working along the meridians in our bodies.

As Flo massaged I melted into the table and almost drifted off to sleep. The massage was completely relaxing however therapeutic in its own way.  Upon completion of my massage Flo immediately and seamlessly transitioned into my Rose Bliss Harmonizing Facial.   My skin welcomed the process and I particularly enjoyed the Isun Rhassoul Refining Exfoliant.  This is a pure blend of Moroccan mineral rich clay and finally ground ocean floor crystals. My skin felt as if it had a manual microdermabrasion.  Next my skin welcomed the Honey-Goji Berry Mask.  This mask is a blend of wild mountain honey and antioxidants from goji berries. These properties mixed with the mango and raw Shea butters left my skin feeling and looking nourished.

My 90 minutes of Beyond Bliss were just that. I felt fully nurtured and attended to throughout the whole experience.  My experience enabled me to feel as if I had taken a mini vacation. I was left feeling relaxed, restored and renewed.

This treatment is from Calixica’s ‘Beyond Roses and Chocolates’ featured packages.  In exchange for my experience Calixica would like to give the very same away to one lucky individual!

The spa is definitely my favourite way to indulge! I love having a day of relaxation and pampering, then having a nice nap once I get home. It would be an extra indulgence to visit this spa as I love going to Granville Island…sounds amazing!

  • Ariane C

I love to unwind with a hot bath and candles. I also love visiting a spa, a treat that I try to indulge in when I can afford it! I love the scent of roses, so if this treatment involves roses as mentioned above, please count me in as an entry!

A glass of wine, a good movie and a foot soak at home, and a full body massage at a great spa if I’m really needing to relax.

    A manicure!

Coffee shop, new book, swimming, hot shower, dinner with friends – sounds like a perfect day!

i like to indulge with a facial and massage

A vacation for me is long overdue. The least I can do is take a day off as a stay-cation and visit the spa. My pillows have been giving me shoulder and muscle pain lately, so a massage would be perfect. (I have never had a massage before!) I would also love to have a facial to pamper my skin in this dry, cold weather. Then of course, I would purchase some new pillows and sleep for 12 hours!

I’d love to indulge doing EXACTLY what you described above including the rose herbal tea, warm oil massage and a facial! With a busy lifestyle, my greatest indulgence is taking the time out to treat myself and to loosen those muscles that tense up from being in front of the computer so much :S

Thank you to all of you for sharing so far! Reading a post like this is easy to make a ‘wish’ for a spectacular experience but we also need to stop and take a moment and purpose to indulge ourselves once in awhile in something that we enjoy…reading a book, watching a show, going for a walk without our kids… we just have to do it!

You’ve got a great list here!

Ariane,  I don’t usually care for rose but this is sooooooo pure! It was amazing!

Going to Granville Island and finding a gem like this is even better!

This may sound odd, but i like visiting my chiro. I always feel so much better after my back is properly adjusted

My idea of indulging is heading home to breathe. For real. As soon as I get in the door, I put my lululemon’s on and hop into bed. Silence and having a moment to think is my favourite moment in the week. Often I indulge to greater levels with a glass of red wine and a bubble bath. Content may be king, but girl time is queen.

Oh so agree! Girl time is Queen!

I love love love visiting my chiro! It’s true how great we feel when things are lined up! If I go without my kids then I can call it ‘me time’ even!

A perfect day of indulging for me involves a day of “me, myself and I” time. I would sleep in, head out for brunch at Cafe Medina (on a weekday), and head to the spa to relax and enter a world of utopia. I would then have a shopping spree at Whole Foods and pick up dinner. At home, I would put on a mask, paint my nails, and read a book while sipping to a delicious glass of Earl Grey.

a glass of wine, candles and my soaker tub, no kids in sight :)

  • Amanda

I like  to take a hot bath at the end of the day and then curl up in bed and read my book. A wonderful massage just like you described above is always a pleasure and a fantastic way to relax and indulge.

i like to indulge by staying up late on friday nights to ready then sleeping in on saturday morning :)

I do love a spa break now and again. I sometimes wonder if we’ve lost the ability to stop and be still to rejuvenate (with or without the special care of a spa practitioner!).

  • Melanie

My indulgences include: the hair salon (I LIVE for having my hair washed by strong hands!), massages, quiet time with my books, sparkling wine, and long talks with close friends.

Because I am a supreme nerd, my idea of indulging is to re-organize a shelf, room or closet. Having a freshly organized space gives me the ultimate feeling of bliss. Clearly I need to go to the spa more, haha!

  • Lindsay Goertzen

As a wife and mother one of the things I like as an indulgence is some quiet time! The best place to find that is at the spa or for me with a hot cup of coffee where I actually get to drink it when it’s still hot! I had a coffee meeting this week that cancelled and I was already at the coffee shop so I just spent the hour enjoying a coffee and people watching! Must get into the spa for some TLC and maybe a nap ;)

  • Billiondollarprincesss

I like to induldge by taking a nice hot bath and reading my trash mags and having some wine!

  • Dilara Litonjua

This package really sounds like pure bliss! My favorite way to indulge is to book an afternoon at a spa (not mornings because I LOVE sleeping in) but that’s not always in the budget so I save that for special occasions. I try to put aside one day a week when I can just pour myself a glass of wine, paint my nails, light some candles, and sink into the couch with a really good book. ahhhhh….

  • Christina P

This one is easy…a hot bubble bath and my partner shampooing my hair. Pure bliss! I also love the stillness of having a mani-pedi or a massage.

  • denise

A beach chair, a magazine and a mojito sound pretty good to me right about now – but I’ll settle for a glass of cucumber scented water and a facial.

  • Wendylynnks

Chocolate, massages, a great book, and the sound of nothing would be an indulgement for me.

  • ruby

I love indulging and going for an occasional body massage.  It is extra special when they focus on my stress points and work out the knots.  The rest of day is even better if I can just go home, hydrate and relax.  So important in today’s hectic lifestyle.

  • Lalania Schembri

I like to undulge by going into a spa for a massage and then going out for dinner afterwards! I feel very spoiled afterwards.
